Updated: Wednesday, October 22

Confirmed attendies: Emily & Dan, Susan & Lewis, Jeff, Becky, Naomi, Nathan, Tamar, Steven, Amy & Maya, Julie, Alister & Max, Zoe, David, Mimi, Deborah & Sophie and possibly Jamie.

Confirmed non-attendies: Nancy, Cary, Laura & Adam, Howard, David & Dawn

We've confirmed our rental of the house across the street.  Between Cary & Laura's condo, our house and the house across the street, we should have plenty of space.  Our tentative plan is to have Jeff & Steven's families and Deborah & Sophie in the house across the street.  Susan & Lewis and Mimi in our House, and the Rosenzweig's in the condo.  If you have other preferences, just let us know or feel free to make your own arrangements.

We're ready to start talking about food.  Suggestions are welcome.

It is fall, my favorite time of year.  The tourists are gone and the snow has yet to arrive.  The weather is mild and the trees are changing color.  That's right, the trees actually change color here.On the Peninsula, where Emily and I grew up, we didn't have seasons.  Sure, the average temperatures would fall dramatically from 70 degrees to a chilly 65, but that was it.  Same boring blue skies and yellow hills.  When you move to the mountains you expect winter, but fall is a nice surprise.

We've rented the house across the street from our friends Calais and Greta so we should have enough room for everyone this year.  It also provides an extra kitchen with a real oven, which should prove useful.

We've already ordered the turkeys from our favorite organic grocery, Lisa's in downtown Truckee. We rarely shop anywhere else these days and after reading Fast Food Nation and Fatland, who can blame us?

The house has been improving and should be in great shape for the festivities.  We have a new hottub which provides motivation for daily exercise and should be fun for the kids.  The downstairs movie room and bathroom have new built in lighting and we hope to have the ceiling done in time.  The downstairs guest room is all cleaned up and has new storage and bookshelves that help make the room a bit less like a garage.

In the next week or so, I'll put up a food and task list for the guests.  In the meantime, make sure to check in with us if you are concerned about housing arrangements or anything else.  We can't wait to see everyone!
